Marrakech Menara Airport Reports Significant Passenger Growth
Marrakech Menara International Airport has witnessed a remarkable increase in air traffic, registering a growth rate of 10.81% in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year. The National Airports Office has reported that commercial air traffic across Moroccan airports has also seen a substantial rise of 9.7% during this timeframe, accommodating a total of 12,336,962 travelers between January and April of the current year. Out of these, 11,067,321 passengers traveled on international flights, marking a 9.54% increase, while 1,269,641 passengers utilized domestic flights, which is an impressive rise of 11.10%. This growth in international travel has been observed across all geographic regions, with Europe—accounting for over 80% of total international traffic—experiencing a 9.64% increase. Other markets, including Africa, North America, the Maghreb, and South America, have recorded growth rates of 19.61%, 21.98%, 13.65%, and 41.24% respectively. In contrast, the Middle East and Asia saw a decline of 4.62% in air traffic.
Overall Increase in Flight Operations
Regarding flight operations, the National Airports Office indicated that by the end of April 2026, a total of 91,128 flight departures and arrivals were recorded across all Moroccan airports, reflecting a significant increase of 10.35% compared to the same period in 2025. This upward trend in air traffic demonstrates the resilience and growth potential of the Moroccan aviation sector, as it continues to attract more travelers from around the globe.
