Morocco's Significant Participation in the 114th International Labor Conference

Morocco is making a substantial impact during the 114th International Labor Conference, which is taking place in Geneva from June 1 to June 12, led by a tripartite delegation headed by the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, Younes Skouri. The minister emphasized in a statement to the Moroccan News Agency that this 'strong and balanced' presence, which includes representatives from the government, employers, and the most representative labor unions, reflects the Kingdom's position as a 'committed actor within the international system.' He highlighted the progress made in social dialogue, noting that over 50 billion dirhams have been mobilized in this context.

Minister Skouri also referred to the significant structural projects that Morocco has engaged in, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, particularly focusing on the generalization of social protection and the implementation of direct support programs for the most vulnerable populations. In connection with the report from the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, Skouri shed light on Morocco's ability to address transformations related to artificial intelligence and the future of work, stressing the role of social dialogue in mitigating potential impacts, especially in employment, through public policies designed to confront the challenges posed by these technological transformations.

The minister asserted that the Kingdom, thanks to its deep-rooted culture of dialogue that spans various sectors, is 'capable of entering this new phase of history with confidence,' despite the challenges ahead. On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Skouri is conducting a series of bilateral meetings, particularly with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization, the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, as well as with counterparts from brotherly and friendly nations.

He is also participating in a high-level meeting dedicated to combating child labor. In this regard, he mentioned that Morocco hosted the sixth global conference on this subject in Marrakech earlier this year, highlighting the significant progress made in this field, with the phenomenon now reduced to between 1.6 and 1.7 percent of children. In conclusion, Minister Skouri affirmed that the Moroccan trade unions participating in Geneva advocate for the Moroccan model based on democracy, human rights, and economic and industrial development aspirations, as evidenced particularly by the recent achievements in strategic sectors such as the aerospace industry.

He confirmed that Morocco is today solidifying its position as an 'indispensable actor in the international equation,' engaged in a developmental path founded on transparency, collective mobilization, and a clear vision supported at the highest levels of the state.
