The New Sound of Casablanca Drivers
Casablanca Drivers, an indie pop/rock duo hailing from the picturesque island of Corsica, has recently released their highly anticipated album titled 'Protocol.' This new project showcases a captivating blend of danceable rhythms, garage rock guitars, and a bass line that appeals to both club enthusiasts and punk fans alike. The album was produced by Nit, known for his work with Sébastien Tellier, and mixed by Ash Workman, who has collaborated with artists such as Metronomy and Christine and The Queens. The resulting sound is both powerful and crisp, reaffirming the band's ability to craft catchy rock choruses designed for the dance floor.
With a distinct electro-clash revival vibe, 'Protocol' evokes a sense of nostalgia while simultaneously feeling refreshingly modern. The duo, composed of Alexandre Diani and Nicolas Paoletti, made the move to Paris to launch their self-produced music. Their live performances also feature DavidAsso'olo, adding an extra layer of dynamism to their shows.
In their own words, Casablanca Drivers have stated, "With 'Protocol,' we broke through the barrier we had set between demos and the final production for the first time. Previously, we would work on demos as a duo and bring them to sessions where they could take on countless possible forms. However, this album was a true team effort; the studio became a laboratory where we explored even the smallest ideas together. It’s our best album yet." This collaborative spirit has led to an album that stands out in their discography.
A Visual Identity Like No Other
The visual direction of 'Protocol' is spearheaded by Alexandre Courtés, a pivotal figure in the French music scene who has contributed to the designs of iconic bands such as Cassius and Daft Punk, the latter of which is famed for their legendary helmets. Courtés has also directed music videos for international artists including Kylie Minogue, Jamiroquai, and Franz Ferdinand, ensuring that the aesthetic of Casablanca Drivers matches the quality of their sound.
In 2025, the band made two notable visits to Mexico City for press engagements, performances, and special activities, including opening for Rey Pila at Foro Puebla. They were also featured as a supporting act for Polo & Pan during their tour in France, embarked on a mini-tour across England, and performed at the Electric Castle festival. To celebrate the release of 'Protocol,' Casablanca Drivers will embark on a tour across France, the United States, Belgium, and additional dates yet to be announced, promising fans an exciting live experience that will undoubtedly bring their new music to life.
