Cracking Down on the Aklou Drug Trafficking Network

Unraveling the Aklou Drug Trafficking Syndicate

In a significant operation, the judicial police in the Tiznit region, aided by precise intelligence from national monitoring services, successfully apprehended an individual suspected of being involved in a drug trafficking network operating internationally. This network is notorious for smuggling drugs to Europe via the Aklou coast and is reportedly led by a former member of the Royal Navy. The arrested individual, a 26-year-old male, is believed to have connections to this criminal organization, which was recently dismantled in Tiznit, and investigations are ongoing to uncover further details about the network’s operations.

Details of the Police Operation

On May 20, the police force in Tiznit, acting on precise intelligence provided by the DST (the Moroccan intelligence service), successfully dismantled an organized crime group involved in international drug trafficking along the southern coasts, particularly at Aklou. This operation took place following a raid on a residence in the urban area of Tiznit, near the Aklou road, resulting in the seizure of 2.5 tons of hashish, three inflatable boats, two jet engines, vehicles, and mobile phones. Additionally, three individuals aged between 37 and 40 were arrested, including a former member of the Royal Navy, all hailing from Tiznit, Guelmim, and Sidi Ifni, on suspicion of participation in the drug trafficking organization.

The investigating judge at the Tiznit Court of First Instance has ordered the detained suspects to be sent to Bou Snassar prison to continue the detailed investigation, which is expected to unveil the identities of more individuals involved in this criminal network. This is being pursued alongside ongoing technical research and field investigations conducted by security services as part of this case.
