The Egyptian Football Federation is set to host a grand ceremony on Saturday, June 5, 2026, at 1 PM in its main hall located in 6th of October City. The event aims to honor and reward the U-17 national team following their remarkable achievement of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and securing the bronze medal at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations held in Morocco.
Under the guidance of coach Hussein Abdel Latif, the Egyptian U-17 team exhibited outstanding performance throughout the tournament, which took place from May 13 to June 2. They earned their spot in the World Cup by finishing second in their group, thanks to a victory over Tunisia (2-1), a draw against Ethiopia (0-0), and a narrow loss to Morocco (1-2).
The young Pharaohs continued their impressive journey by defeating the Ivory Coast 4-1 in the quarter-finals. However, they faced disappointment in the semi-finals, where they were edged out by Tanzania in a penalty shootout. Demonstrating resilience and determination, the team concluded their campaign on a high note by defeating the host nation and defending champions, Morocco, with a score of 2-0 in the third-place match. This achievement is celebrated as the best result for Egyptian youth football at this level since they won the title in Botswana back in 1997.
