FIFA Opens New Africa Office in Rabat: Aiming for Global Football Transformation

In a significant move to bolster football development across the continent, FIFA President Gianni Infantino inaugurated the FIFA Africa office in Rabat, Morocco, emphasizing its potential impact on the global football landscape. This new facility, which is slated to officially open in 2025, aims to strengthen connections between FIFA and its 211 member associations worldwide. Infantino's remarks during the ceremony highlighted the role of the iconic Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, which he described as a pivotal hub for both African and global football, transcending its initial purpose as merely a sports or educational center.

Expressing gratitude to Morocco, King Mohammed VI, and the Moroccan Football Federation, Infantino acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the 54 African Football Confederation (CAF) member associations, stating, "Africa is FIFA, and the rest of the world is FIFA." This new office adds to FIFA's existing hubs in Paris, Miami, and Jakarta, reinforcing its commitment to fostering football's growth on an international scale. Morocco has emerged as a significant player on the world stage, with its national teams achieving remarkable success in recent World Cup tournaments. Under the leadership of influential administrator Fauzi Lekja, Morocco is also pursuing transformative football initiatives, including co-hosting the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.

As Morocco prepares to co-host the Centenary World Cup in 2030, Infantino called for sustained collaboration to ensure its success. He underscored Morocco's strategic importance and its capacity to influence global football through upcoming key events such as the Under-17 Women's World Cup and the 2030 World Cup. The establishment of the FIFA Africa office marks a pivotal step in the organization's ongoing efforts to promote football development and unity across the continent and beyond.
