French-Algerian Woman Arrested in Marrakech for Alleged Online Defamation

On Saturday, security authorities at Marrakech Menara Airport intervened to halt the departure of a 30-year-old French national of Algerian descent, who was arrested on suspicion of disseminating digital content that included derogatory remarks about Moroccan citizens and defamatory statements regarding a public institution protected by law. The available information indicates that the suspect had been posting offensive comments and videos on her social media accounts, which included direct accusations against public officials of corruption and preferential treatment while carrying out their duties related to traffic law enforcement.

In light of these allegations, the relevant authorities initiated a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor's office. This led to the issuance of a national search warrant for the individual in question, who was subsequently apprehended at Marrakech Menara Airport while preparing to leave the country on a flight to France.

As part of the ongoing investigation, the suspect has been placed under police custody to facilitate the inquiry conducted by the Marrakech judicial police. This investigation aims to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the case and to identify the motives and background related to the actions attributed to her.
