Severe Heat Wave Predicted Across Several Moroccan Regions
The Moroccan Directorate General of Meteorology has issued a new heat wave alert, warning citizens about rising temperatures expected to reach alarming levels in various provinces and regions of the kingdom. The alert, released on Thursday, indicates that the threat level has been marked as 'orange' for both heat wave and hot weather phenomena.
According to the meteorological authority, temperatures are anticipated to soar between 39°C and 42°C over the upcoming weekend, particularly impacting areas such as Taza, Berkane, Oujda Angad, Fes, Moulay Yacoub, and Taounate. This heat wave is not just a fleeting concern, as the forecast predicts even higher temperatures between 40°C and 45°C starting from Friday, June 19, through Sunday, June 21, affecting regions including Errachidia, Jerada, Taourirt, Figuig, Zagora, Tata, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Awsard, Ksarif, and Boulemane.
In light of these alarming temperatures, the Directorate General of Meteorology urges residents within these areas to exercise caution and take necessary precautions during this heat wave alert period. The health and safety of the population should be a priority, as extreme temperatures can pose significant risks, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.
