Human Rights Advocates Raise Alarm Over Pressure to Close Case Involving Minors in Ba Muhammad

Concerns Regarding the Case of Exploited Minors

The regional office of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in the Fes-Meknes region has issued an open letter to the Attorney General at the Court of Appeals in Fes regarding the latest developments in the investigations linked to a network exploiting minors in the town of Ba Muhammad. The regional office highlighted that the case has garnered significant attention at both local and national levels, resulting in the arrest of several suspects, including individuals of influence. They expressed concern over the alarming information circulating in the media and within the community regarding attempts to manipulate the proceedings of this critical case.

In their letter, a copy of which was obtained by Al Hayat Al Yaoumia, the association reported receiving information indicating that there are efforts to pressure the families of the minor victims to "close the case" and buy the silence of these families. This situation has raised increasing fears among parents and families, negatively affecting the education of the girls involved, which could lead to a worsening of school dropout rates.

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights has called upon the public prosecutor's office to ensure a thorough investigation in accordance with legal standards, with a focus on protecting the best interests of the children, considering that the victims in this case are minors. Furthermore, the association urged for transparency regarding the latest updates on the case and the outcomes of judicial proceedings against all potential perpetrators. They are eagerly awaiting a response from the Attorney General to the contents of their open letter.
