We invite you to participate in a highly interactive in-person event hosted by the BCI North East Chapter, designed around a topic that our community has been keen to explore: the effectiveness of exercises in delivering real value. Set against the stunning backdrop of The Hawkhills estate near York, this meeting is a unique opportunity for resilience professionals to address a crucial question: are your exercises genuinely fostering confidence, or are they merely fulfilling obligatory requirements?

The day will commence with a networking session and a chapter update, followed by an engaging and thought-provoking discussion led by members of the Northumbria Local Resilience Forum. This session aims to challenge prevalent assumptions and dissect the often ambiguous distinctions between exercising, assurance, and validation. Participants will engage in practical discussions and share their experiences, thereby enhancing their understanding of how to transcend mere 'tick-box' exercises and effectively demonstrate meaningful outcomes to senior stakeholders.

Following a BCI update and a networking lunch, the afternoon will shift focus to practical applications. DCR Partners will facilitate an immersive crisis exercise that requires active participation. Attendees will be divided into small groups, adopting various roles and perspectives to navigate a dynamic scenario. This collaborative exercise ensures that there are no passive observers; every participant will contribute, learn, and depart with actionable insights.

This event presents an invaluable opportunity for those looking to either construct their exercise programs or refine existing frameworks. It encourages attendees to challenge conventional thinking, develop their capabilities, and forge connections with peers in a distinctive and engaging environment.

Workshops and Seminars

The event will also feature a workshop titled "Project Resilience by Design: Building a Common BCI x PMI Checklist for Robust Projects in Uncertain Environments," facilitated by Ramy Mohammed, CEO of RISKILIENCE and BCI Northern Africa Chapter Lead. Additionally, a seminar on "AI & Personal Data Protection in Project Management" will be presented, showcasing the importance of integrating modern technology with data security in project management practices.

Ramy Mohammed brings over 23 years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and business continuity. His commitment through RISKILIENCE helps organizations bolster their security posture and resilience against cyber threats. Yahya Arroubat, with over thirty-five years in information systems and security, will also lend his expertise to the event. A former head of IT Infrastructure and Operational Security at the Casablanca Stock Exchange, Arroubat has been instrumental in establishing certified Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) and Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) across organizations, furthering the mission of the BCI North Africa Community.
