Launch of the 'Moucharaka' Program in Casablanca-Settat Aims to Enhance Women's Political Participation

Empowering Women in Political Spaces

The Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, in collaboration with the Democratic Association of Moroccan Women (ADFM), recently inaugurated the first regional session of the 'Moucharaka' program in Casablanca. This initiative is designed to bolster women's participation in the upcoming electoral events scheduled for September 2026 and 2027. Spanning two days, this inaugural stage of the program targets women involved in political and associative spheres, providing them with essential training on various political action themes. Topics covered include mastering the electoral system, political leadership, electoral campaign management, political and digital communication, as well as advocacy and negotiation techniques.

Enhancing Representation and Decision-Making

The 'Moucharaka' initiative aims to increase the representation of women within political parties, decision-making bodies, and elected institutions. This program will be rolled out nationwide, encompassing all twelve regions of Morocco, and is expected to benefit around 720 participants, with 60 beneficiaries per regional session. In a press statement, Naima Ben Yahya, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, emphasized that 'Moucharaka' is the result of a participatory approach informed by consultations with political organizations, parties, and civil society associations. The initiative aligns with the Royal High Guidelines aimed at enhancing women's participation across various sectors, reinforcing principles of equity and equality of opportunity, and improving their representation in political parties and elected bodies.

Ben Yahya also highlighted the significance of a regional approach, which facilitates closer engagement with women throughout the country and addresses the unique characteristics of each territory. She asserted that women's access to decision-making centers is a crucial condition for their contribution to the nation's development process. Khadija Errabah, the national coordinator of ADFM, remarked that these training sessions are intended to equip participants with the necessary tools and mechanisms to become influential players in the national political landscape, capable of advocating for equality and driving change. She praised the ministry's role in fostering a sustainable institutional partnership with civil society to strengthen efforts towards the political empowerment of women.

Following the first session in Casablanca, the 'Moucharaka' program will continue to expand across various regions, with upcoming sessions scheduled in Meknès on June 23-24, Dakhla on June 26-27, Laâyoune on June 29-30, Taroudant on July 4-5, Guelmim on July 7-8, Ouarzazate on July 13-14, Marrakech on July 16-17, Béni Mellal on July 19-20, Khémisset on July 22-23, and Asilah on July 24-25, concluding in Oujda on July 27-28.
