Major Law Enforcement Operation in Marrakech Leads to 37 Arrests

Police Conduct Sweeping Operations in Marrakech

In a significant law enforcement initiative, the field research unit of the first security district in Marrakech executed an extensive clean-up operation across various areas within the Winter District. This operation aimed to combat illegal activities and curb delinquency, following directives from the city’s security chief and under the direct supervision of the area's security head. According to a security source, these operations resulted in the apprehension of 37 individuals suspected of involvement in various criminal offenses. Among those arrested, 14 were caught in a state of public intoxication, while 9 others were detained for suspected connections to issues related to promoting corruption and prostitution. Additionally, 4 individuals were arrested on charges of assault and battery.

The police operations also led to the capture of 6 people engaged in begging in public spaces, and authorities identified and detained 4 foreign migrants residing illegally in the country. These proactive measures are part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing public safety, eliminating sources of delinquency, and increasing police presence in crucial areas, especially in the tourist zones of the Red City.
