Marrakech Economic Forum Concludes with Calls for Enhanced Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Cooperation

The fourth session of the Marrakech Economic Parliamentary Forum for the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions has successfully concluded in the beautiful city of Marrakech, Morocco. This significant event was organized by the Moroccan House of Councillors in collaboration with the Mediterranean Parliament, alongside the parliamentary network of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The forum brought together various stakeholders to discuss critical economic issues affecting the region and promote collaborative efforts to foster sustainable growth.

During the concluding session, participants emphasized the necessity of establishing a comprehensive and multilateral economic framework that connects the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf countries. This initiative aims to enhance economic integration and adapt to the rapidly changing international landscape. A key recommendation from the forum was the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf Center for Artificial Intelligence, which would focus on harmonizing digital legislation across the region while mitigating security risks associated with the advancements and applications of artificial intelligence.

As part of its outcomes, the forum announced the launch of an initiative aimed at institutional structuring, in cooperation with the parliamentary network of the World Bank and the IMF. This move is designed to support free trade, promote economic cooperation, alleviate debt burdens, and finance sustainable growth in alignment with the principles of the World Trade Organization.

Furthermore, participants called for revitalizing partnerships between the public and private sectors, advocating for mixed financing models to develop high-performance and environmentally friendly computing infrastructure. There was also a strong push to expand cooperation with parliamentary associations in Africa and Latin America, along with exploring the feasibility of establishing a Mediterranean Development Bank within a coordinated framework among member countries.
