Marrakech to Host Fourth Mediterranean Parliamentary Economic Forum in 2026

Marrakech Set to Be the Epicenter of Economic Dialogue in 2026

The Council of Advisors has announced the organization of the fourth Mediterranean Parliamentary Economic Forum in collaboration with the Mediterranean Parliament, the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, the International Bank's Parliamentary Network, and the International Monetary Fund. This significant event is scheduled to take place on June 19 and 20, 2026, at the Conference Palace in Marrakech. Under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, this edition aims to continue the dynamic momentum established since the forum's inception, which has played a pivotal role in cementing a unique and reference economic parliamentary space within the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf region. The forum serves as a permanent platform for dialogue, consultation, and exchange of experiences among parliamentarians, decision-makers, economic actors, and representatives of regional and international financial and economic institutions, focusing on developmental and economic issues of mutual interest.

Key Issues and Focus Areas of the Forum

According to the official statement, the forum's discussions will center around several priority issues, including global economic challenges, prospects for regional economic integration, promotion of investments in artificial intelligence and modern technology, and the enhancement of sustainable job opportunities. Additionally, the forum will address the implications of climate change on food security and sustainable development. A special session dedicated to Africa is anticipated, themed "The African Continental Free Trade Area and Linking Euro-African Value Chains: Towards an Integrated Space for Joint Production, Investment, and Economic Resilience," featuring high-level government officials and parliamentarians. This session aims to explore ways to enhance African economic integration, develop connections between African and European value chains, and encourage investment and joint production, thereby strengthening the African continent’s economic capacity to address international challenges and achieve sustainable development.

The forum will also witness the participation of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, alongside representatives from the private sector and national and international economic and financial institutions. This involvement is expected to enhance the practical dimension of the forum and contribute to formulating proposals and recommendations that support investment, innovation, and multilateral economic partnerships. Over the course of the two-day event, participants will deliberate on mechanisms to confront current economic challenges and explore new horizons for cooperation and partnerships between the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf countries and the African continent, in line with King Mohammed VI's vision aimed at strengthening South-South cooperation and solidifying bridges of partnership and economic integration among various regional spaces.
