Mobile Phone of Student Uncovers Exploitation of Minors in Bamhamd Village: Human Rights Activists Warn of Pressure to Close the Case

Shocking Revelations in Bamhamd Village

Recent events in Bamhamd village, located in the region of Taounate, have unveiled a harrowing case of the suspected exploitation and trafficking of minors. The investigation, sparked by the discovery of inappropriate images on a student's mobile phone, has led to the apprehension of several individuals involved in this alarming situation. The Moroccan Association for Human Rights has stepped in, revealing the existence of an organized network suspected of luring and abusing young girls, with reports indicating that some victims are currently pregnant.

Authorities Take Action Amid Growing Concerns

Approximately twenty days ago, the incident came to light when a teacher discovered compromising images on a student's phone in class. This prompted the school administration to investigate further, leading to the revelation of a troubling situation that involved other minors. Following this discovery, the authorities were alerted, and a thorough investigation was launched. The initial inquiries have uncovered at least ten other minors who may have been subjected to similar exploitation, with two of them reportedly pregnant.

As a result of the investigations, six adults have been arrested, including a woman believed to have facilitated the meetings between the minors and their abusers. These individuals have been referred to the investigating judge at the Court of Appeal in Fez, where they will face charges while the investigation continues to uncover the full extent of the network involved.

The Moroccan Association for Human Rights has expressed serious concerns regarding potential pressures from influential individuals involved in the case, who may be attempting to suppress the investigation by intimidating the victims’ families. They have called for transparency and thoroughness in the investigation to ensure justice for the victims and to protect the welfare of minors in the area. This situation raises significant fears among parents about the safety of their daughters and could lead to increased school dropouts among girls in the region. The association is urging authorities to monitor the situation closely and to ensure that all parties involved are held accountable.
