Recently, Moroccan mountaineer Hind Zemmama achieved a remarkable milestone by conquering Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America, which stands at an impressive altitude of 6,190 meters. Zemmama commenced her journey to the summit of Denali at the end of May, a project she had meticulously planned for several months. On June 9, she proudly became the first Moroccan and African woman to reach North America's highest point, only a year after her extraordinary feat of climbing Mount Everest in May 2025. Reflecting on her Denali climb, she recounted the numerous obstacles she faced, including sub-zero temperatures, extreme weather conditions, physical exhaustion, isolation, and the challenges presented by high altitudes.
In addition to her recent Denali achievement, Zemmama has a history of summiting some of the world’s most formidable peaks. Last October, she successfully reached the summit of Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia, once again hoisting the Moroccan flag atop one of the globe's highest mountains. When asked about her current mindset following this latest triumph, she expressed her intention to savor this success while remaining resolute in her ambition to tackle new heights and explore additional summits.
Zemmama is on a thrilling quest to climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, having already conquered six of them: Everest, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Elbrus, Puncak Jaya (Carstensz Pyramid), and Denali. With only one peak left on her ambitious list—Mount Vinson in Antarctica—she is eagerly preparing for this upcoming challenge, which she hopes to undertake in the near future.
