Moroccan Solidarity Demonstration Marks 59th Anniversary of the Naksa

Moroccan Citizens Stand in Solidarity with Palestine

On June 5, 2026, a significant gathering took place in front of the Parliament in Rabat, Morocco, where dozens of citizens came together to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people, commemorating the 59th anniversary of the Naksa. This event, organized by the non-governmental organization Group for Palestine, aimed to honor the memories of the June War of 1967, which resulted in Israel's occupation of the remaining Palestinian territories, as well as parts of Egyptian and Syrian lands.

Participants in the demonstration held up banners conveying powerful messages, including slogans such as "No Naksa with Resistance," "No Normalization, No Compromise," and "The Moroccan People Stand with Resistance Against Normalization with Israel." The atmosphere was charged with chants resonating through the streets, with calls for freedom echoing, such as "The People Want to Liberate Palestine" and "Long Live the Resistance, Long Live Palestine."

Calls for Justice Amid Ongoing Conflict

During the demonstration, Aous Al-Ramal, the head of the non-governmental movement 'Unity and Reform', addressed the crowd, reaffirming their commitment to the Palestinian cause. He stated, "We gather once again to confirm that the era of loyalty has not ended, and the call for support has not diminished. Palestine remains alive in the conscience of our authentic people and the spirit of this vibrant nation." Al-Ramal further highlighted the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, noting that policies of starvation, siege, and deprivation continue to strip the people of Gaza of their basic human needs. He emphasized the moral degradation of the contemporary international system, which fails to intervene effectively.

As this anniversary arrives, Palestinians find themselves enduring a relentless Israeli assault on Gaza, coupled with escalating military actions and settlement expansions in the occupied West Bank. This situation has led many to draw parallels between the aftermath of the 1967 war and the current realities faced by Palestinians. Since October 2023, Israel has been accused of committing acts of genocide in Gaza, resulting in over 72,000 deaths and more than 173,000 injuries, with the majority being women and children. Additionally, thousands remain missing, and widespread destruction has occurred across infrastructure and civilian facilities. Concurrently, Israeli military operations in the West Bank have resulted in the deaths of 1,168 Palestinians, injuries to over 12,000 others, approximately 23,000 arrests, and the displacement of 33,000 individuals, according to reports from the Palestinian government media office.
