A Childhood Dream of Playing for Barcelona
Former Moroccan tennis player Younes El Aynaoui recently reminisced about his son Nail's childhood dreams, revealing that the young midfielder of the Atlas Lions aspires to play for FC Barcelona. At just 24 years old, Nail Ayinawi is currently under contract with AS Roma until the summer of 2030, showcasing his commitment to his current club while harboring dreams of future possibilities.
In an interview with the renowned sports newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo', El Aynaoui expressed his son’s deep love for Barcelona, stating, "My son adores Barcelona. He lived there from birth until he turned 11, and he would be the happiest person in the world if he ever got the chance to play there." This sentiment underscores the profound connection Nail has with the Catalan club, where he spent significant formative years.
Nail was born in France, but his family quickly relocated to Barcelona, allowing him to grow up immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the club and its culture from a young age. He previously shared, "I am a modern midfielder with great stamina, capable of playing in any position within the midfield. As a child living in Barcelona, I was a passionate supporter of the team, and Andrés Iniesta has always been my idol."
So far in the World Cup, Nail Ayinawi has participated in both matches played by the Moroccan national team, completing the full 90 minutes each time alongside teammate Ayoub Bouaddi from Lille. His performance has been commendable, showcasing his skills and potential on the international stage.
Despite his aspirations to join Barcelona, the path appears challenging due to the club's current midfield lineup, which includes stars like Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, and Marc Bernal. This competitive environment may complicate any potential move to the renowned La Liga side.
