The National Rally of Independents (RNI) has chosen the city of Fez as the inaugural venue to unveil the first outlines of its program in preparation for the elections scheduled for September 23, 2026. This significant event was attended by the party's president, Mohamed Chouki, members of its political bureau, as well as local elected officials and representatives.
During the presentation of the "RNI Program" on the evening of Monday, June 22, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, the Minister of Economy and Finance in the Akhannouch government and a member of the RNI’s political bureau, introduced the core commitments of the program. The party, which leads the current governmental coalition, has named this initiative "Sustainable Protection of Purchasing Power" as a fundamental entry point to strengthen the economic security of Moroccan households.
Sustainable Protection of Purchasing Power
The primary commitment of the RNI program focuses on the sustainable protection of purchasing power, which is supported by four practical measures explained by both Nadia Fettah and Badr Tahiri, the regional coordinator of the RNI in Meknes. Tahiri announced that the party is in good health within the Fez-Meknes region, across its nine provinces.
Fettah emphasized that "the sustainable protection of citizens' purchasing power is the first and clear commitment in the party's upcoming program priorities." She elaborated on the first measure, which is a "social shield to combat the rising cost of living." This initiative is based on institutionalizing a direct social support index tied to inflation rates, implementing an automatic adjustment mechanism that activates once inflation surpasses a predetermined threshold.
This measure aims to ensure sustainable purchasing power for 4 million families benefiting from direct social support, which translates to approximately 12 million Moroccan citizens, including over 5.5 million children.
The second measure is the establishment of a "savings shield" for workers in the informal sector. This initiative will allow informal workers to open a simplified savings account supported by the state, structured into two categories (contingency savings/future savings), ensuring access to retirement benefits or funds that can be withdrawn during emergencies.
Fettah placed this initiative within the context of responding to global economic fluctuations and inflation, stating that it connects the value of direct support to the inflation rate automatically, without bureaucratic complications or waiting periods. This means that any price increase will automatically reflect an increase in the support provided to families, ensuring their dignity and safeguarding their purchasing power during unforeseen crises.
The party program does not overlook the professional and struggling working class, particularly those in the informal sector. In detailing the second measure, Fettah described the "savings shield" as an innovative mechanism aimed at alleviating future anxieties among workers by providing a simplified savings account focused on liquidity and future security. She added that the state will provide direct financial support to savers; for every 50 dirhams saved monthly, the state will contribute an additional 10 dirhams, resulting in over 525 dirhams annually for those who manage to save 250 dirhams a month, thus providing citizens with a secure balance to help them through difficult times.
Fettah also expressed pride in the "strong dynamics and continuous communication" that have characterized the party's work over the past five years, which has enabled leadership to genuinely listen to public sentiment and address the everyday issues of Moroccans, particularly the prices of essential consumer goods and the welfare of citizens.
Improving Wages and Education Initiatives
The third measure was presented by Badr Tahiri, who highlighted the "wage improvement and pension shield." He stated that the "Hummingbird Party" commits to reviewing and raising the legal minimum wage in industrial, commercial, and liberal professions (SMIG) as well as in the agricultural sector (SMAG), aligning the agricultural minimum wage with other sectors to elevate the living standards of two-thirds of workers in the formal sector. Furthermore, he noted the plan to increase pensions and work towards raising average wages and expanding the formal sector as supportive measures.
The fourth measure involves an "education shield for families," with the program committing to achieve this through the introduction of a tax credit that could reach up to 5,000 dirhams annually for each child to cover schooling expenses, serving as a complementary measure to reform leadership institutions for the benefit of the middle class. This will enable families to make educational choices comfortably without jeopardizing their financial stability.
Building upon previous initiatives that traversed all regions of the kingdom, the RNI is embarking on a new national communication tour, aimed at enhancing dialogue and bringing the essence of its program for the upcoming phase closer to citizens. This initiative seeks to present the major commitments that form the foundational pillars of the party's agenda for the forthcoming period.
The RNI’s program, which is based on several major commitments supported by numerous actions, will be presented through a gradual communication methodology, ensuring clarity and understanding of the messages shared during regional presentations, leading up to a comprehensive national announcement of the RNI program at a major national event.
