AFRIMA Set to Engage Casablanca for 10th Edition Preparations

Strategic Visit to Morocco Ahead of AFRIMA's 10th Edition

In a significant move towards the 10th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), a delegation from AFRIMA, alongside representatives from the Africa Union Commission (AUC), will embark on a pivotal Strategic Visit to Casablanca, Morocco, from June 21 to June 26, 2026. This initiative aims to foster engagement with crucial government officials, corporate leaders, media stakeholders, and members of the creative industry in Morocco's economic capital as preparations for this prestigious event escalate.

This six-day strategic endeavor is being realized in collaboration with Big Time Morocco, under the auspices of the AFRIMA Ambassador for Morocco, Ahmed Soultan, and several other significant partners like the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMIC), WeCasablanca, and Royal Air Maroc. The visit is a vital component of AFRIMA's continental stakeholder engagement program, designed to bolster partnerships and evaluate Casablanca's readiness to host the esteemed pan-African event.

Engagements and Activities Planned During the Visit

The delegation, led by AFRIMA President and Executive Producer Mr. Mike Dada, is scheduled to engage in a series of high-level discussions with senior government officials, private sector stakeholders, and leaders from Morocco’s vibrant creative and cultural sectors. Notably, one of the highlights will be a Creative and Media Soirée on June 23 at the Marriott Hotel in Casablanca, where industry professionals can engage with AFRIMA officials. This gathering aims to create avenues for collaboration, cultural exchange, and the enhancement of the creative industry across Africa.

Furthermore, the delegation will conduct inspections of facilities and infrastructure at various locations throughout Casablanca, assessing potential venues, hospitality options, and transportation systems that would be crucial for the successful hosting of future AFRIMA events. The team also plans to immerse itself in the region's lively festival scene by attending cultural and music events, allowing them to witness Casablanca's flourishing creative ecosystem firsthand.

AFRIMA's Director of Brand Communications and Sponsorship, Matlou Tsotetsi, highlighted the significance of the visit, stating that it exemplifies AFRIMA’s dedication to cultivating robust partnerships across Africa and fostering cultural integration through music. Tsotetsi emphasized that Casablanca serves as a vital cultural nexus, bridging North and Sub-Saharan Africa, and stands as a testament against narratives that question the legitimacy of African identity and solidarity.

In a statement, Jamal Abdennassar, representing Big Time Morocco, expressed excitement about hosting the AFRIMA delegation. He lauded Casablanca for its world-class infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and burgeoning creative economy, indicating a readiness to showcase the city as a prime location for one of Africa's most celebrated cultural events. The delegation will include notable figures from various African nations, further enhancing the collaborative spirit of this strategic visit.
