Air Transat Launches Non-Stop Flights from Montreal to Agadir

Exciting New Connection Between Montreal and Agadir

The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) recently celebrated the upcoming launch of Air Transat's new non-stop service connecting Montreal (YUL) with Agadir (AGA), set to commence with its inaugural flight on June 12. This significant event took place on June 3, where ONMT representatives joined a delegation of tourism partners and hoteliers from Agadir, along with travel agents and members of the Canadian media, in a historic venue located in the Old Port of Montreal. The gathering served to further solidify the strong ties between Morocco and the Quebec tourism market, as noted in an official statement from ONMT.

The event was graced by the presence of Her Excellency Soraya Otmani, the Moroccan Ambassador to Canada, along with representatives from Global Affairs Canada and the Forum of Federations. Siham Fettouhi, the ONMT Director for North America, remarked, "This new air service marks an important milestone for Morocco, reflecting the growing cultural connections between Morocco and Canada, as well as the increasing interest of Canadian travelers in our destination.” She added, “With Agadir now more accessible than ever, we are thrilled to welcome even more Canadian visitors to the Moroccan Atlantic coast.”

Immerse in Moroccan Culture and Hospitality

The evening was inspired by the spirit of Agadir, offering attendees a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Moroccan flavors, traditions, and hospitality through a variety of engaging experiences. Guests enjoyed hand massages with Argan oil, tastings of Amlou, fresh juices, and artisanal ice creams featuring traditional Moroccan flavors such as orange blossom, dates, verbena, and Argan oil. The program also included insightful presentations about the destination, networking opportunities with tourism professionals from Agadir, and a raffle offering a chance to win a pair of Air Transat tickets along with stays in Agadir. These activities provided a genuine taste of what awaits visitors in Morocco.

This new connection will be the very first non-stop flight between Montreal and Agadir, marking the inaugural direct air link from Agadir to North America. Offered every Friday, this service is expected to enhance Agadir's position as one of Morocco's key tourist gateways, according to the tourism office. This announcement also reflects the increasing popularity of Morocco among Canadian travelers, as reported by ONMT.

In 2025, Morocco welcomed a record 258,304 Canadian visitors, representing a 29% increase over 2024. This upward trend has continued into 2026, with 75,839 Canadian arrivals recorded by the end of April, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.
