Severe Heatwave Expected in Multiple Regions

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning indicating that several regions across Morocco will experience a significant heatwave starting today, Tuesday, and lasting until Friday. This alert has been classified as an 'orange' level warning, signaling a serious weather phenomenon.

According to the meteorological agency, temperatures are expected to soar between 39°C and 44°C from Tuesday to Friday, particularly in the provinces of Smara, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, Oussard, and Tata. These elevated temperatures are anticipated to have a noticeable impact on the local climate, creating conditions that could be uncomfortable and potentially hazardous.

Heat Conditions Across Various Provinces

In addition to the severe conditions in the previously mentioned regions, the agency forecasts hot weather today and tomorrow, with temperatures ranging from 37°C to 42°C in several provinces, including Sidi Slimane, Al Rahamna, Nouacer, Khemisset, Sidi Bennour, Youssoufia, Beni Mellal, Fkih Ben Saleh, Meknes, Khenifra, Fez, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Berrechid, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, Qalaat Seraghna, Marrakech, Moulay Yacoub, Taounate, Larache, Wazzan, Essaouira, Safi, Guelmim, Taroudant, Tan-Tan, Laayoune, and Tarfaya.

Furthermore, today, temperatures are predicted to range from 38°C to 41°C in the areas of Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, Chtouka Ait Baha, Inzegane Ait Melloul, and Tiznit, as well as in Rabat, Sale, and Temara-Skhirat. In the coastal cities of Sidi Ifni, Casablanca, Mediouna, Mohammedia, and El Jadida, temperatures will likely range from 34°C to 38°C, indicating the widespread nature of this heatwave.

Authorities are urging citizens, especially children and the elderly, to take necessary precautions to mitigate the effects of rising temperatures. It is recommended to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and to avoid direct sunlight exposure during peak hours.
