Royal Celebration of Eid al-Adha in Rabat
On the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2026, corresponding to the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah 1447, King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, and Prince Moulay Ahmed, performed the Eid al-Adha prayer at the Mosque of Ahl Fes located in the royal precincts of Rabat. The atmosphere was filled with spirituality and a unique festive spirit as thousands of citizens gathered to share in the joy of this significant occasion and to express their congratulations and loyalty to the esteemed Alaouite throne.
The royal procession moved from the royal palace in Rabat to the Mosque of Ahl Fes, surrounded by a large crowd that filled the square of the royal precincts. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by a ceremonial guard of the royal forces, before he joined members of the royal family and various civil, military, and diplomatic figures in the Eid prayer.
Reflections on Sacrifice and Community
During the sermon, the preacher highlighted the profound spiritual meanings of this religious occasion, marking the culmination of the blessed ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. The sermon evoked the story of Prophet Ibrahim and his son Ismail, emphasizing the values of sacrifice, altruism, solidarity, and generosity that are embodied in the ritual of Eid al-Adha.
Following the prayer, the preacher and the congregation prayed for the well-being of the Commander of the Faithful, asking God to grant him joy through Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, to support him with his brother Prince Moulay Rachid, and to preserve the royal family, while also remembering the late kings Mohammed V and Hassan II.
After the prayers concluded, the heads of Islamic diplomatic missions accredited in Morocco approached His Majesty to offer their congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. Subsequently, the Commander of the Faithful performed the ritual sacrifice in accordance with the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, amidst celebratory gunfire that echoed in recognition of this great religious event. The mosque’s imam also conducted the second sacrifice, after which the King received congratulations from senior state officials, including the Prime Minister, the presidents of both houses of Parliament, the president of the Supreme Council of the Judiciary, the Attorney General, along with many heads of constitutional institutions and prominent civil and military figures.
